Abstract

The article discusses the sustainability of the joint economy (the sharing economy) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The sharing economy has changed our lives in many ways. The growth of the joint economy in Russia has (had) absolutely incredible rates. The volume of transactions of online sharing services (sharing services) operating in Russia amounted to about 769.5 billion rubles at the end of 2019. and showed an increase of 50% compared to the results of 2018. The innovative nature of the joint economy led to its undoubted success. But now these consumer benefits are often undermined by overregulation and taxation. The current COVID-19 pandemic has shown how much the sharing economy has helped consumers gain access to essential goods and services, while at the same time revealing very real constraints and regulations that are undermining it. The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed that the resilience of cities and countries to the new challenges of the 21st century is not just general words, but there is an extremely urgent thing today that allows us to withstand the dangers of today and tomorrow. Part of this sustainability, in our opinion, is the development of a joint economy.
